Summer Institute for Robotics

July 8 through August 3, 2012

The Summer Institute of Robotics (SIR) program is a 4-week residential summer program designed to allow high school students to discover the science and technology of robot design and operation. The SIR mission is to increase the knowledge and understanding of robotics concepts and principles for urban high school students with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Throughout the duration of the program, SIR plans to achieve the following objectives.

Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS)

For the past 4 years, SIR has been sponsored by JETS - UNITE. JETS is a national non-profit education organization dedicated to promoting engineering and helping students discover their potential for the profession. The UNITE program funds a number of universities throughout the US by the Army Research Office. UNITE targets talented high school students and helps prepare them for college through summer classes that introduce an academic experience which closely parallels that of a first-year student in a university engineering program as the SIR program. For more information on JETS and UNITE please visit www.jets.org.
